How do I know when is my chain dullJul 4/06
I often get asked "How do I know when my chainsaw chain needs sharpening?" It is pretty easy, when you stop getting a steady stream of nice wood chips coming off the chain it is getting dull. If you persist on forcing the saw until all the chips are just dust you are putting undue strain on the chainsaw and wearing the chain even faster. Remember to keep the tip of the bar away from the ground. Hitting dirt only a couple of times is enough to dull an entire chain. The chain will be easier to sharpen and you will get many more sharpening's out of the life of a chain if you stop and sharpen sooner.
